What You Can Do About Plastics In Lake Monroe

  • Keep your trash out of the lake and off of the shoreline.

  • Reduce use of single use plastics.

  • Recycle plastic waste .

  • Pick up trash when you see it.

  • Stop smoking! Or at least keep your cigarette butts from the lake and shoreline.

  • Avoid cosmetics and other products that contain microplastics.

  • Buy clothing with all natural materials.  Especially avoid polyester fleece that sheds in the wash and winds up in our streams and lakes.

  • Volunteer for a Friends of Lake Monroe Shoreline Cleanup.
