Thank You Friends Folk Fest
Many thanks to all who joined us for Friends Folk Fest on April 12! The event was a lovely afternoon of music and community and a successful fundraiser for Friends of Lake Monroe.
Happy Earth Day
Friends of Lake Monroe was happy to table at Earth Day at Switchyard Park as well as Earth Fest at Unionville Elementary School. We also presented about watersheds at the library's Casual Video Gamers Club and at the Unitarian Universalist Women's Alliance meeting.

Tire Amnesty Day at the Fairgrounds
Help us prevent dumping in the Lake Monroe watershed by spreading the word about Tire Amnesty Day this Saturday May 16th at the Monroe County Fairgrounds!
We continue to meet with landowners around the watershed to explore soil and water conservation projects through our cost-share program. This dairy cow was particularly interested in being part of the conversation. Maybe she is ready for a heavy use area pad!
We just approved two new projects through our program. One is a heavy use area pad for a small beef cattle operation and the other is a series of trail improvements for a forested site.
If you know a farmer or landowner who might be interested in improving soil and water management on their property with a HUAP or another type of project, please direct them to watershed coordinator Maggie Sullivan at watershed@friendsoflakemonroe.org or 812-558-0217 for more information.

Sign up for the Master Naturalist Training being offered by Monroe County Soil & Water Conservation District and Monroe County Parks & Recreation! (Friends of Lake Monroe will be teaching the session on watersheds.)
